Afandou Golf Club of Rhodes

The initial plans for Afandou Golf Course had been active since 1962, when the land expropriation started. The course, designed by Donald Harradine, was inaugurated in 1973. Although the location is hard to beat (it spans along a sandy 12-km shoreline in the eastern part of Rhodes), the course never managed to reach its full potential, both during the state management years but also when private investors took the lead during the economical crisis years.

In early 2022 the ownership status changed once more and this time a complete renovation is underway along the construction of hotels, apartments and a marina. Nicklaus Design is responsible for the redesign as well as the infrastructure upgrade (new irrigation and power lines). According to the announced plan, works will begin in late 2023.
