Glyfada Golf Course of Athens

Glyfada Golf Course is the womb of the greek golfing community. It was the first 18-hole golf course and as of 2023 remains the only one in the broader metropolitan area of Athens. Through the years it has not always been the course that Athenian golfers ideally want in terms of maintenance, but it’s the one they need.

Dating back to 1962, the originally layout was shaped by Donald Harradine on a slightly rolling terrain which is pleasant to walk and offers vistas oriented towards the sea on the front 9 as well as vantage points of Mount Hymettus on the back 9. The course was modified by Robert Trent Jones for the World Cup that was hosted here in 1979. It currently operates as a municipal enterprise administered by the Municipality of Glyfada.
