Crete Golf Club

Crete Golf Club marked a new era with its opening in 2003. By that time it had nearly been 30 years since the inauguration of a brand new 18-hole course in Greece. It is the only 18-hole course in the island of Crete (sided by the lovely 9-hole pitch and putt of Elounda Golf and Suites). While the course has a convenient proximity to the international airport, the surrounding mountainscape provides a sense of remoteness. The signature hole is the par-3 # 6 with a ravine entrenching the island-type green from the tee boxes.

The construction required extensive ground preparations including stone crushing and topsoiling to accommodate turf. The mid-2010s refurbishment further exploited the course potential and included the construction of a 5-star accommodation hotel right next to the course.
