Shooting golf balls at the Eiffel Tower
A daydream on Parcour Vert of Golf de Saint-Cloud, Paris, France.
Children long to visit Paris for Disneyland. Grown-ups look forward to sit at a Saint-Germain café, spend a day in the Louvre, walk in Montmartre and shop at Avenue George V.
The very moment we were informed we were flying to Paris for a business meeting, it was apparent what we longed to do: play a round at Golf de Saint-Cloud.
We were honored to be invited (it is a members only club), welcomed and treated as a friend, with exceptional support both from personnel as well as members.
And all of a sudden there she was: “La Charniére”, hole number 8, waiting for us shortly after a carnage in the bunker of 6, to apply all of her seductive powers at once: No group behind us, chirping birds, perfect temperature, sunshine and the Eiffel Tower in a direct line of sight. We remember trying hard not to smile like stupid and thinking “this iron needs to be flushed as perfect as this view deserves”.
It was eventually one of the finest shots of the round.
