The Hole with Two Greens

The backstory of the double greens in Glyfada Golf Course hole #6

Urban courses have always needed to take countermeasures against collateral damage from golf shots that escape their perimeter.

At Glyfada Golf Course, a frequent culprit was the par-4 No. 6, which runs along the outer fence, with a green positioned in the southernmost corner of the property.

Following an incident where an up-and-down proved anything but soft, resulting in the injury of a young stroller on the perimeter pavement, it was decided to relocate the green 30 meters back and to the right of the fairway (toward the No. 7 tee box).

The ghostly outline of the original green and bunkers remains at the far left end, occasionally tempting us to club up and pay a visit to an old friend.
